Boem was founded in 2008 by Megan Orrell with a simple mission: to offer stylish, attainable fashion in a space where everyone feels welcome. From day one, Boem has been more than just a boutique—it’s been a place where customers become friends and shopping feels like stepping into someone’s home.

In May 2025, Boem entered an exciting new chapter when ownership transitioned to Kayla, a former Boem team member who went on to successfully build and run her own boutique, Voda, since 2017. Her history with Boem, combined with her years of experience as a boutique owner, makes this a natural full-circle moment and ensures the brand’s heart and vision continue into the future.

Seventeen years later, that original mission remains the same. What started as a single storefront has expanded into three vibrant locations across Charlotte—our flagship in SouthPark, our second location in South End’s Atherton Mill (opened in 2020), and our newest in Blakeney Shopping Center (opened in 2022). We brought Boem online in 2015 so our laid-back, feel-good vibe could reach beyond the Queen City.

At Boem, we handpick styles from brands we love—like Free People, Z Supply, Steve Madden, MINKPINK, Cleobella, Pistola, Dolce Vita, and more—so you can find pieces that make you look great and feel even better. We’re also passionate about introducing fresh, emerging labels, with a special love for Australian brands.
